The equally apparent presence and absence of individuality on the internet was the impetus to creating MyFace, a web-art project created in response to the performativity of female identity represented on Facebook. The performance of the "self" seen in Facebook photographs reflects the desire to be original, diverse, and interesting; the subjects create multiple identities from the sexy and mysterious woman in sunglasses to the tough girl with a black bandana covering her face. And yet, the multiplicity of these repeated actions are uniform, trendy, excessive.
