The following student work samples were created in Understanding the Visual I and II, two different classes I taught at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design.
The "before and after" images (the first five examples) were midterm projects for UVII.
UVII Midterm Assignment:
Create a work that is a "re-imagining" or a "reconfiguration" or a "recreation" from a work that you made last semester. You can recreate your work in any form, using any materials. You will accompany your work with an artist statement - When writing your statement, ask yourself such questions as "WHY do I want to re-imagine this piece? What worked in the first rendition? What did not work? How can I better communicate my ideas with this re-configuration?" Integrate these questions you ask yourself into your statement.
